Speedup prep!

Hey everyone - we’re back after a short hiatus. I’ve been busy trying to grow an instagram and learn more about video editing. Have two of my first videos shown below. Check them out!

Always being prepared to speed up the ball

Watch Ben John’s have a subtle wrist angle change before hitting a backhand slice dink. When his opponent is dinking the ball back, he is waiting for a chance to speed the ball up. Once he realizes the ball is too low to attack, he adjusts his wrist back to hit a slice dink.

Triangle Rule:

  • When hitting a speedup across the body of your opponent in front of you, the next shot (the counter) will likely come back straight towards the middle of the court (forming a triangle). So if you speedup with a backhand across the body of your opponent, the counter will generally get hit towards your forehand (and vice versa). This can help anticipate and prepare for your next shot.
